No USO center? No worries! USO Japan takes pride in supporting every military installation on mainland Japan. Through outreach programming USO Japan sends care packages, supports children’s deployment initiatives and sponsors base and command events geared toward our active duty military and the families that may accompany them.

USO PROGRAMS OFFERED THROUGH OUTREACH

OPERATION USO CARE PACKAGE: Our troops know that good things come in small packages. Since 2001, the USO has distributed more than 2-million care packages to troops around the world – an instant connection between the troops, home and the citizens they serve. USO Japan delivers these comfort gifts to individual’s sent IA while stationed in Japan. In many cases USO Japan has helped to organize stuffing parties where communities rally together and donate additional items to show even more support for our troops abroad.

UNITED THROUGH READING’S MILITARY PROGRAM: When Mom or Dad deploys, children can feel terribly sad. In 2006, the USO partnered with United Through Reading® to host its nationally recognized program at select USO centers worldwide. Whether troops are stationed at a forward operating base in Afghanistan or deploying overseas, they can visit their participating USO center to read a story aloud to their child. Mom or Dad’s special story time is recorded on camera, and the USO mails this priceless DVD and book home. Children can watch and listen to their parent at bedtime, nap-time or anytime. Families complete the circle by sending back a touch of home – a photo of the child watching their deployed Mom or Dad reading the book.

WITH YOU ALL THE WAY!: Created by the Trevor Romain Foundation, the “With You All the Way” Deployment Kit are filled with resources and activities and helps children and their families prepare for deployment, stay connected during the separation and plan for reintegration.

USO JAPAN IS PROUD TO OFFER OUTREACH PROGRAMS TO OUR TROOPS STATIONED ON NAF ATSUGI, MCAS IWAKUNI, CAMP ZAMA, CAMP FUJI, YOKOTA AIR BASE AND MISAWA AIR BASE. THESE PROGRAMS ARE ALSO OFFERED BY OUR CENTERS ON COMMANDER FLEET ACTIVITIES YOKOSUKA AND COMMANDER FLEET ACTIVITIES SASEBO.
